Proudly Cebuano-owned coffee chain, Coffee Dream, which has been serving the Filipino coffee drinkers for over 15 years now through their 33 branches all over the country (Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Bacolod, Manila, Tagbilaran, and Cebu) has just opened a new branch located at A.S. Fortuna Banilad, Mandaue City (situated at the ground floor of Benedicto’s College).

For 15 years, Coffee Dream has grown to a brand of its own competing with other power players in the market.  Their very first shop was built in 1996 located at the 4th floor of Ayala Mall (near the Cinemas).

For the interiors, they have tapped the talents of UP graduates Cham Lopez, Jaja Pareja and Kai Igot ,which were mentored by world-renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, to do the interior redesigning of each coffee shops that they have and the A.S. Fortuna Branch were decorated with paintings from local UP student, Donnabella.

Keeping everything “local” the coffee being used is Coffee Dream are grown from different regions of the Philippines.

I knew that the former occupant of their new branch was another big-market player in the coffee market so I did not bother asking if they know what was the main reason why they left and if they considered that when they opened a new branch on the same location. Proprietor Glenn Soco is confident that with how Coffee Dream is setup and marketed as a local brand, the location will never matter and they are confident that they will succeed in the location.

I’ve never been a fan of coffee and I think I will never be but with coffee shops like Coffee Dream offering non-coffee based chilled blends, great food and pastries, good quality service, FREE Wifi partnered with a very good location, then I’ll definitely reconsider.
